Jeff Timm went up to Canada to tackle the Duathlon Plus race in early July. Jeff was
1st Overall on Saturday. Conditions were very hot and humid, his race
started at 11AM, with no shade - not the best for him. He finished the
first run 4th, came off the bike in first but had already started
cramping with 20K to go and so was slowing down. Two guys started the
2nd run just 2 minutes behind him, including a young guy who had run
1:40 faster than him in the 5K. But the distance in those conditions
affected everyone. Jeff had more willpower
(stubbornness?) than the rest: he ended up with the fastest 2nd run (!)
and won by about 3 minutes. He really wanted to win after getting 2nd
in this race last year. It worked better than expected since this year
they added money for the Duathlon Plus, Jeffrey won $125CAN.
Triathlon Levis is a pretty amazing race: they have two full days of
events:
half ironman, ironman, double ironman, powerman, duathlon plus
(comparable to the half ironman), 100K run, 50K run plus a youth
triathlon held concurrently at a different venue. They do a great job
with organization and the race directors are really nice and treat their
"international contingent" like celebrities.
Other results:
Greg Sabo placed 3rd overall in the Huntersville, NC Firecracker 5k, in
18:09.
Trey Cassidy placed 1st overall in the Kennebunk, ME 5k, in 17:10
